Lauren Berry (1917-1983) was a celebrated body worker who drew from his professional experience as both a structural engineer and a registered physical therapist. His work began on the premise that distortions of muscles, tendons, and ligaments contributed to the mechanical problems of the spine and extremities. He also believed that everything in the body is innately programmed to self-correct, if adhesions and scar tissue in connective tissue can be removed.
By addressing pain in extremities or the spine and restoring the body’s natural center of gravity where the spine and the sacrum meet, Berry’s work effectively heals connective tissue. His gentle release techniques stimulate the body’s natural inclination toward balance and ease in its structure and function.
